Lauren B and the Beauty Business
14, MAY 2015 BY DRYBY
Here’s a lesson on how to hold down two big jobs at the same time: Lauren Berkovitz not only runs her uncle Philip B’s luxury haircare brand (she’s the VP), she also launched her own nail brand, Lauren B, about a year ago (she’s the CEO). In short, she’s a dynamo. Her passion for both companies comes through, and we fell for them instantly (and use them liberally at DryBy). She’s put so much thought and know-how into every single colour and treatment, we were curious to know how her double life came to be. Below she answers our questions on her life as an entrepreneur in the beauty industry.
How did you get into the beauty business? Was it a lifelong dream?
Nails were always my passion. My grandmother used to call Philip
I actually ended up pursuing a career in medicine but I realized quickly within the first year of medical school in Miami that it wasn’t for me. I wanted to do other things by the time I was 30. It was a bit of a rude awakening and a good learning experience.
Philip B is my uncle and so I guess I grew up in the luxury hair/beauty world but I never knew this was something I wanted to be or do with my life. I started working for him, and sort of infused the brand with my young, unorthodox vision.
