Be sure to prep for a day at the beach or pool.
Prolonged exposure to water and chlorine weakens and dries out your nails and cuticles. Keep your manis and pedis strong with an extra coat of top coat before a day in the water. Matte nails are so pretty for summer, Lauren B
Matte Top Coat comes everywhere with me lately! And I always keep my current polish color on hand for on-the-spot-touch ups.
Moisturize your nails and cuticles.
It’s so important to keep your nails and cuticles hydrated in the summer heat. Dry cuticles cause painful hangnails and can cause polish to chip and peel. Make sure you’re paying extra attention to your nails and cuticles when you moisturize. The Lauren B.
Reparative Cuticle Oil is super hydrating, I use it every night.
Hand Scrub
Don’t forget your feet.
Summer is obviously the time to show off those pretty pedis, but open-toed shoes can be brutal on your feet and really dry them out. Our Lauren B. Nourishing
Hand Cream smells so good for summer and works just as well on feet!
Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate.
The same way you exfoliate the skin on your face, you need to remove the top layer of skin on your hands to reveal the fresh skin underneath. I use Lauren B.
Polishing Hand Scrub a few times a week and my skin always looks smoother and brighter after.
Keep moisturizer in your carry-on bag.
Recycled airplane air causes dryness around your nail beds, so if your summer plans involve hopping on a plane, you absolutely cannot forget to pack a moisturizer! I travel with Lauren B
Nail Treatment Twin Pack. It’s travel- friendly and perfect to apply before takeoff.
Use sun protection.
Your nails need protection from the sun just like your skin. Not only can the sun burn the skin under your nails, it can also cause damage in the form of ridges. A great way to protect your nails from the sun’s rays is by keeping them polished all summer. Remember a top coat to keep your polish from getting discolored in the sun!
Drink lots of water.
Brittle nails that constantly break and peel can be a sign of dehydration. By sipping on more water, you'll promote nail growth and prevent dry, flaky cuticles. An added bonus… drinking water helps flush your body of toxins, which will leave you with glowier skin too!
Always go 7 free.
Non-toxic nail polish is an absolute must-have for summer. Traditional nail polish is filled with harmful chemicals that at minimum, can cause dryness and weakening of the nails. Look for polishes created without the 7 most common chemicals: Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Ethyl Tosylamide, and Xylene.
